On June 21, the IOCM held the intercultural event, "Beyond Borders", organised by Franziska Sandt and Carolina Rehrmann. It was an evening filled with music, dancing, and conversation and a wonderful opportunity for exchange between students and staff. Invited into the garden of “Gartenlokal Daheme” were of course all IOCM students as well as students of the latest WorldMUN delegation and students participating in this year's SchillerMUN. Additionally, professors and research fellows of the political science institute came to the event.
Our very own Dr. Carolina Rehrmann entertained the guests with an international musical performance, consisting of Spanish, Italian, Greek, and French songs, topped off by a Charango-solo, all accompanied by musician Diego JascalevichExternal link. Everyone, professors, students, and research fellows then participated in dancing the Greek Sirtaki, lead by Carolina Rehrmann. This marked the transition into the informal part of the event, where participants were dancing, chatting, and laughing together.
Beyond Borders did not only bring students of different origins together, it took participants beyond their borders of nationality, beyond their borders of profession and beyond their borders of what they grew accustomed to.
